·                     Help 40 organisations save money by buying low cost equipment;

·                     Help 4 neighboourhoods with 10,000 residents to improve their recycling performance;

·                     Create 19 jobs in deprived inner city areas.

Achievements as of 2012:

1. In Kenya:

Create Recycling centres in low-income neighbourhood: by delivering less-resource kerbside recycling scheme in low-income areas for glass, plastics, paper, tins board, textiles, organic waste; we are hoping eventually to establish a network of recycling schemes that will result in a MRF facility in Eastland’s area of Nairobi.

Prevent useful resources from landfill: Provide the means to recycle surplus items from businesses in UK into education, giving the resources a new lease of life and assisting schools by supplementing the school budget. Usual types of resources available are:

  • Office equipment -desks, chairs, cabinets, computers etc. Paper products -paper, cardboard, packaging, stationery, display materials, catalogues, brochures, folders, etc.
  • Fabrics - roll ends of material, threads etc.
  • Food operation equipment - plastic containers, cups, plates, utensils, etc.
  • Electrical components, mechanical components, etc.
  • Plants, gardening materials, tools, etc.
  • Building materials, tools, paints, models, etc.

Develop creativity in Children of slums: Provide, assist or support the provision of quality creative play and environmental facilities for children and young people resident in Eastland’s, to promote the development of such children and young persons, in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential. All playground equipment will be locally sources and constructed to ensure that benefits reach the local communities.

Promote sports in slums: Collect unwanted sports equipment such as bikes, boxing gloves etc. that will be made available to those who need to use them.
